Welcome to the Engine Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
HAL, Engine division was established at Bangalore during 1956 for production of Orpheus Turbo Jet Engines under license agreement with M/S Rolls-Royce.
Over the past seven decades, Engine Division has collaborated with global companies in the area of design, development, manufacture and maintenance of various Aero engines and diversifying into related areas. Since then Division has manufactured more than 3100 engines and repaired & overhauled more than 16,500 engines.
Division supplies Engines / offers services to Indian defence, civil customers and also to overseas customers. Division has also Exported critical Engine components to other Engine manufacturers like M/s. Safran HE, M/s.Rolls Royce, M/s.Honeywell etc.
Engine division has outsourced more than 2600 components with estimated 6 lakhs Standard Man Hours annually. Presently, Division is outsourcing the Job work to Tier 3 partners and we are looking for parties capable of partnering at Tier 2 and Tier 1 level.
We expect the support in the form of:
- Machining of Aluminum alloys, Titanium alloys, Nickel alloys & High Strength Steel involving conventional as well as CNC machining processes.
- Sheet metal forming.
- Supply of parts where in vendor scope is to procure raw material, Machining, and Special processes.
- Pipe line manufacture with conventional as well as CNC pipe bending.
Tier 1: Financial and Technical Risk sharing Partnership. Parties capable of
partnering/sharing across the spectrum of design development and execution, ability
to explore and generate common business interest in aerospace sector
Tier 2 : Partners capable of manufacturing and supplying complex/major parts and
assemblies with capability for tool design and development and potential to
procure raw material on their own.
Tier 3 : Outsourcing of Job work by providing the raw material and technical support
- Gear cutting operations with quality requirements of DIN4 and DIN5.
- Machining of parts pertaining to families of Casings, Shafts, Vanes,Blades, Discs and Rings etc.
- Electron Beam Welding of Nickel and steel components.
- Heat treatment for processes like Stabilisation, Aging, Nitriding,Harden and temper, normalizing, Case Hardening, Carbonizing, Annealing, Solutionising and Precipitation hardening.
- Special process like EDM, Plasma spray, HVOF Coating, D-gun coating etc.
- Surface / Protective treatment like Electro Plating, Anodizing, Cadplating etc
- Electrical harness/ cables fabrication involving operation like crimping of lugs and soldering of sockets etc.
- Fabrication of detail tools for machining, sheet metal forming, etc
Engine Division maintains following Quality Management System (QMS) /certificates / accreditations:
- AS 9100D Quality Management System (QMS) Certification (Based on and Including ISO 9001:2008).
- AFQMS - Approval of the Firm & its Quality Management Systems from Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA).
- Maintenance Organisation Approval (MOA) under Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) 145 from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
- National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) Approvals.
- National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) Accreditation
- Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Certification in accordance with IS/ISO 14001:2004
